Carrying a Pepper Spray Pen

Pepper spray pens are among the most popular form of spray used for self defense. These disguised weapons look just like a regular pen. Even when carried in a shirt pocket or placed on a desk, it can easily be mistaken for a pen. Using such a disguised weapon gives you the element of surprise when fighting back against the attacker. The pepper spray contained in such a device is strong enough to disable any attacker for at least five minutes, giving you plenty of time to get away safely.

The best part about carrying disguised self defense weapons, such as pens, is that they can be left right out in the open, making them one step easier to use. Just grab your pen, flip the safety, and spray your attacker's face with the powerful pepper spray.

Disguised self defense pens are surprisingly believable, even to those who know that it is a pepper spray pen. They are designed not only to be the right length and girth as a pen, but also have a rounded 'cap' and other features to replicate the look of a pen. Pepper spray pens are even weighted to feel just like a nice pen when someone picks them up. You may be worried that its very similar appearance will mean that the spray may be accidentally sprayed by someone looking for a pen, but this is not the case. They come with a safety button which must be disengaged to allow the pen to spray.

Pepper spray pens are a great way to protect an office or other workspace. The pen can be placed in a pencil holder or even in plain sight lying right on the desk or within easy reach in your top desk drawer. If someone approaches your space to attack you, you can reach for the pen without the assailant even realizing what is happening.

When you're out and about, keep a disguised pen in your pocket or purse. If you find yourself in a compromising situation, you can always make an excuse to pull out the pen, such as to write your phone number or directions. Then, you'll have the pepper spray right in your hand in case you need to use it. Other popular places to keep a pen include on the top of a clipboard or in your car's cup holder. However, don't leave it in the car all day long; pepper spray canisters should not be exposed to extreme temperature, because they can explode.

Disguised weapon pens are small and convenient, but carry more than enough spray to disable your attacker. Just a one to two second burst of to the eyes is enough to leave your attacker in pain, although it is designed to not cause long-term damage. Many even include special dyes to mark the attacker for identification by the police. Each pen contains between six and ten bursts of pepper spray, enough to effectively stop any attack. They can be used up to six or eight feet away; you don't need to be sitting or standing right next to the attacker for the spray to reach them.
